Twice on this journey i've observed a train conductor instruct a traveler in navigating their train ticket app to find the bar code for the other direction of their return journey. both times the customer said "i just downloaded the first one." and the conductor said "i know".
When you have a Split Fare return through Trainline you might have 5 or 6 tickets.
i'm on the train from Sheringham back to London, reading the FT Weekend Magazine that i had delivered to my room at the Country Park Hotel last night in West Runton. We'll get there, but I'll go back to the beginning of the week.
On Monday i had a good day at work. On my way to Permacomputing Club, as i was sneaking through the shared hallway of my apartment building with a bag of trash feeling like a little rat i was recognized from feelingof. "You're from Feeling of Computing!" so i will have to move house now. It was a nice evening and it was nice to see May.
Tuesday i attended a Dialog community call as part of an apparently continued penance for some grand sin that curses me to walk a haunted earth in which almost every conversation has a 90+% chance of including the word "rhizomatic". It was good and i am excited about that project too.
On Wednesday evening, while i was curled up in the basket ready to fall asleep on the laptop, Becky Avery text me an invitation to a show whose doors had already opened "this is your moment". I jumped up, changed, sparkled the eyes and dampened with kohl, zipped out the door by Northern to the TOMORA show. AURORA and Tom from the Chemical Brothers. It was a very good show, very very very good. Becky me split a pair of Babybels during the encore. Every time AURORA said "come closer to me" we stepped 1 inch closer. Afterwards we went to an AI generated burger restaurant. I had a "gluten bitch" and becky had a "veggie bitch". We met some strange and nice people, and none of us could really believe we were there. "everyone looks like my ex girlfriend" "pineapple cheeks" "tell these girls the truth, Danny". A man with a banana hat ordered a half bitch meal deal but left before it arrived, which is how we met Sarah.
On Thursday the work day was extremely good. And dearest Adelaide sent me some writing that i enjoyed, and a greeting from her brother who is quite dear to me though we've only met once under an oak tree while he played bouzouki (greek) and we ate pickles off a fig leaf and i sacrificed myself so that he would no longer have to occupy the stump. That was a good day, the sky was impossibly blue and the leaf was green and there was that little grey and yellow bird so far from home in the road and i was dressed in blue and it had been nice to meet everyone and to see Jenny too.
On Friday I attended a workshop at UAL run by Agnes and B. Agnes is researching if learning on malleable software can give students more of a feeling of empowerment over their computers. Ink & Switch are helping out by providing a piece of software that is, in theory, malleable. We're going to make it more malleable by the time the students attempt to malleate it. Malleable software is such a bad name. We already have malleable software, software that can be beaten into shape with a hammer. What we don't have is soft software, craftware, repairable software. It was a good day though I started to feel the strain again. It's time to get into crochet. It was a very good workshop, and i feel so incredibly lucky to be around all of these extremely cool and talented women.
Saturday morning I got my little rabbit self together to meet Adelaide at the Farmers Market up in Stokey (up in Stokey???). She was there when i arrived, and she had in her hand half a long black in a ceramic mug, and she said "hi chee rabbits:)))))". she always says "chee rabbits" never "chee", like i'm a becky avery type. we hugged hello. it was a good hug, a two parter with an extra squeeze and a second phase and after it was over we unwrapped but neither step back and talk right into each others faces with bright wild eye chitter chatter on the promise of kale and dirty carrots so close itβs all I can see. And then the rounds, cool kids kitted out in their prams, I ate a little pinch of parsley, we try little slices of fruit, and a watery kombucha, and she sits at the long table and arranges all her apples and I take a picture and she "don't worry, i'm going to take an aerial image", and we drink coffee, and we talk well about many things, and it gets into my clothes and stays with me the whole day and i keep catching it when I turn and that lasts all the way to norfolk, and she says "i was in the cemetery before i came here so my hat is full of rosehips and hawthorne berries" and i tell her she is a menace to society and they shouldnβt let her out of the house, because she asks me to, and she takes out a knife and in Cafe OTO we eat lentil soup and talk about salt and then she off to work and i have business to conduct with the water and with the woods and so itβs now unexpected I'll all aboard a train to Norfolk and to MOUSEHOLD HEATH and a cheeseburger at american diner and steal off into the woodlands by HEARTSEASE and back to the train, off to WEST RUNTON where the station won Best Unmanned Station (small stations category) in 2007 and where there is a hotel (Country Park) and there is a forest (wood) and beach (water) and beach (where they found large mammoth bones) and beach (where he will take you on a boat to see the seals). dig my hands into the earth and touch the bark and taste it and at midnight on the night when we are closest to the veil consult the tarot in the woods under the tree and she says:
ββββββββββ ββββββββββ ββββββββββ ββββββββββ β xv β β α΄ΖMOβ₯γβ β γβ️γγβ β π β β πΏ β β ποΈγ β β β️ β️γβ β π₯€ππ₯€β β π§ π¦ β βγ π₯γ β β β️ β️ β β π πβ β devil β β IΞX β β β️ β β temper β ββββββββββ ββββββββββ ββββββββββ ββββββββββ
+ you see it gets into the clothes and it gets on the skin and then thereβs a long way we must go to where the woods are and the marshlands and get it under the fingernails and in the morning the beach, under the fingernails and splash in the salt water, and I donβt know how to describe it, maybe I can with stringed instruments but there arenβt any words for it which is why I canβt place it (itβs in a different kind of space with other dimensions), but it gets on my clothes and it stays with me for the rest of the day and sometimes I wake up with it and itβs still there all the way to the beach and I skip breakfast and itβs in the speaker pads in the headphones so it must be coming out the pores it never rains but itβs coming out the pores and last night at the top of the hill I could see the stars
and now im on a train from Sheringham reading Financial Times Weekend Magazine that i had delivered to my room at the Country Park Hotel this morning (because i am so fancy). there are articles about sobriety in the wine industry, and the continued shadow of the troubles in northern ireland.
Weβre pulling into Liverpool St Station now, so I will bid you good afternoon and I love you and good night. Big month next.
